Theater Portfolio I

I'm applying for a position in Theater Design and Costume Making. The actual company is Aboriginal based, and deals with world wide aboriginal stories- so my goal is to show them my capacity to design for various ethnic cultures, while keeping contemporary theater in mind.
Today's spread deals with the Ainu- The Native Aboriginals of Japan. Seen her, a "Kamuy" wildly known in the culture a "Supernatural Bear". This one is more puppetry meets costume. Left side concepts, right side the quick illustration how it would look on stage.

The Matador

Part of my annual personal projects is making a calendar for the upcoming year.
This year, I decided to go the way of zodiac symbols, coupled with characters from a popular anime series "Hetalia" (the character's personalities would determine which month they would represent).
This was one of my favorites- the Matador [Spain] as "Sagittarius".
Fun fun fun!

Just another layout. I've been on a layout binge lately, eh?
This time, it's based/inspired by an Austrian Castle Interior.
Gotta love the flamboyant European decor.

Pretty Smart for a Hyena

The other day, me and and friend of mine were bringing up bad animal stereotypes believed to be true way back in the day.
I WANTED to say that "Hyena's were thought to be Hermaphrodites"... but somewhere along the trail of thought, "Hermaphrodite" became "Androgynous" became "Ambidextrous".
And so I said: "People used to think Hyenas were ambidextrous!"
Pretty smart for fellas who don't even have any thumbs.

Beasts of Yore Portfolio

I was asked to join a portfolio a couple of years back that was themed “beasts of Yore”. After the initial round of images were completed, we decided to go ahead for another round, and I put dibbs on “Werewolf”.

Here’s my prelim sketch. I’m making it out to look like an old scripture drawing- so I’ll probably be breaking out my ink well and pen nubs for this one.

Landscape II

Another quick sketch paint. I wanted something a kin to the Swiss Alps- with the big frosty mountains and little mist-filled village bellow.
I really can't wait for winter. :)
